“Trauma is a nightmare of thoughts, images, and emotions, based on past wounds that creates unconscious and irrational stress in the body that suspends awareness of our Infinite nature.” – Mastin Kipp
We all experience trauma from one degree to another. When a person experiences trauma it is stored in the body and affects an individual’s physical health and wellbeing. The experience and the impact on our body creates a disconnect from living our purpose. As Mastin Kipp states, “we relive our “nightmares” until we that we are the dreamers and we can wake up.”
WHAT IS EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is the key to waking up and creating a new way of living on purpose. EMDR is an evidenced-based psychotherapy that empowers individuals to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of an upsetting or traumatic life experience.
EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal form psychological trauma similar to the body recovering from physical trauma. For example, if you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If the wound becomes infected, it will cause pain. Once the infection (block) is removed, healing continues.
EMDR therapy demonstrates a similar pattern with the mental process. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health and wellbeing. If the system is blocked by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound may create intense suffering. Once the block is removed, the healing continues.
